A teammate asked me how many points were needed to qualify to a Correspondence Chess Olympiad Final. We are currently playing a Preliminary group in the XVII ICCF Olympiad:

I reviewed the preliminary stages and qualifiers to the final in the XII, XIII and XIV Olympiads. We know that two teams qualify in each preliminary group, therefore the scoring percentage of the second best team in each group would provide the desired information.
The graph shows the observed scoring percentage versus the corresponding percentage of teams with that score, that qualified to the final:




The linear correlation of this distribution is very high: R=0.968842
Interesting to see that with a score of 59% of possible points, there is no chance to qualify whereas a score of 69% of possible points gives an 100% chance to qualify.
